Bengaluru to host the first meeting of the G20 Finance Track under India’s G20 Presidency

Bengaluru will host the first meeting of the G20 Finance Track under India’s G20 Presidency. The first G20 Finance and Central Bank Deputies Meeting are scheduled to be conducted in Bengaluru between 13th December 2022 and 15th December 2022. The Indian G20 Presidency will be hosted jointly by the Ministry of Finance and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to focus on the agenda for the Finance Track.

  • Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Governor RBI Shaktikanta Das will lead the Finance Track under India’s G20 Presidency.
  • the first meeting of the G20 Finance Track under India’s G20 Presidency will focus on global macroeconomic issues, strengthening the international financial architecture, and financial sector issues such as financial inclusion, infrastructure financing, health financing, sustainable finance, and international taxation.

24×7 Multi-Lingual Tourist Info-Helpline

The Ministry of Tourism launched a 24×7 Multi-Lingual Tourist Info-Helpline on the toll-free number 1800111363 or on a short code 1363, aimed at offering support service in terms of information relating to Travel in India and offering appropriate guidance to tourists in distress while traveling in India.

  • The toll-free service has been introduced in 12 Languages including 10 international languages (German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic), Hindi, and English for domestic and foreign tourists.
  • 24×7 Toll-Free Multi-Lingual Tourist Help Line aims to provide information relating to travel and tourism in India to domestic and international tourists.
  • This Toll-Free 24×7 multi-lingual Tourist Helpline has been declared the winner of the Outlook Traveller Award 2017 for “Best New Tourism Initiative”.

First meeting of G20 Development Working Group under India’s Presidency to begin in Mumbai

On 13th December 2022, The meeting of the G20 Development Working Group (DWG) will be held in Mumbai under India’s Presidency. G20 Development Working Group (DWG) will be to share India’s Human-Centric Sustainable Development Goal Story and Citizen-centric governance. the meeting will also focus on utilizing the power of digital technology and data as key enablers.

  • It will also include the climate agenda by leveraging its interlinkages with the development agenda through lifestyle for Environment.
  • India will enhance the role of the G-20 development working group as the custodian of the development agenda in G-20 during this meeting of DWG.

  • The first G20 Finance and Central Bank Deputies (FCBD) meeting will be held in Bengaluru. This meeting will mark the start of discussions on the Finance Track agenda under the Indian G20 Presidency, which will be hosted jointly by the Ministry of Finance and the Reserve Bank of India.
  • The 3-day meeting will focus on the agenda for the Finance Track under the Indian G20 Presidency.
  • It covers reorienting international financial institutions to meet the shared global challenges of the 21st century, financing cities of tomorrow, managing global debt vulnerabilities, advancing financial inclusion and productivity gains, and financing for climate action and SDGs.

Sri Aurobindo’s 150th birth anniversary

India celebrates the 150th birth anniversary of Sri Aurobindo, once a renowned revolutionary, who later became a spiritual master. On 13th December 2022, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in a program commemorating Sri Aurobindo’s 150th birth anniversary at 5 PM via video conferencing. Sri Aurobindo’s 150th birth anniversary program will be held in Kamban Kalai Sangam, Puducherry, under the aegis of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.

  • PM Modi will also release a commemorative coin and postal stamp in honor of Sri Aurobindo.

19th Handicraft trade fair in Nepal

The Federation of Handicraft Association of Nepal has organized the 19th Handicraft Trade Fair and 17th Craft Competition in Kathmandu to enhance the export, trade, and promotion of Nepalese Handicrafts. The trade fair attracts locals as well as foreign tourists from 9th December and expects thousands of footfall till 13th of this month.

PM lays foundation stone for projects worth Rs. 75,000 crores in Maharashtra

Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone and dedicated multiple projects worth Rs. 75,000 crores to the nation in Maharashtra. The projects include rail projects worth more than Rs. 1,500 crores, National Institute of One Health (NIO), and the Nag River pollution abatement project, Nagpur.

  • PM Modi also dedicated the Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering and Technology (CIPET), Chandrapur to the nation and inaugurated Centre for Research, Management and Control of Hemoglobinopathies, Chandrapur.
  • PM flagged off Vande Bharat Express from Nagpur to Bilaspur, dedicated Nagpur Metro Phase I to the nation
  • He also laid the foundation stone of Nagpur Metro Phase II.
  • He inaugurated Phase I of Hindu Hrudaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg which covers a distance of 520 kilometers and connects Nagpur and Shirdi.

Kerala CM inaugurates India’s biggest business jet terminal in Kochi

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurated a new Business Jet Terminal at Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) and CIAL now joined the elite club of four airports in the country which operate dedicated terminals for business jet operations.

  • The terminal is 40,000 sq ft and is compatible for international and domestic business jet operations with an exceptional ‘safe house’ facility for security-exempted personages.
  • It includes an exclusive private car parking space, a drive-in porch, a grand lobby, five opulent lounges, a business centre, a duty-free shop, a foreign exchange counter and a high-end video conferencing room.

5th edition of Kochi Muziris Biennale art exhibition

The fifth edition of the Kochi Muziris Biennale, arguably the country’s largest contemporary art exhibition was held in Kochi on December 12, 2022, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the event at the Fort of Kochi Parade Grounds.

39th edition of India-Indonesia Coordinated Patrol (IND-INDO CORPAT)

The 39th edition of India-Indonesia Coordinated Patrol (IND-INDO CORPAT) is scheduled to be held between the Indian Navy and the Indonesian Navy from 08 December 2022 to 19 December 2022 in Belawan, Indonesia.

  • An indigenously built Missile Corvette Indian Naval Ship (INS) Karmuk, participated in the pre-deployment briefing.
  • The CORPAT will be executed along the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) from 15 to 16 December 2022 and will conclude with a debrief at Port Blair.
  • From the Indian side, NS Karmuk, L-58 (indigenously built Landing Craft Utility vessel), and Dornier Maritime Patrol Aircraft will participate in the CORPAT.
  • From the Indonesian side, KRI Cut Nyak Dien, a Kapitan Pattimura Class Corvette will participate in the CORPAT.
  • India-Indonesia Coordinated Patrol (IND-INDO CORPAT) aims to enhance maritime security in the region.
  • It will also help in enhancing the operational synergy by exchange of information for the prevention of smuggling, and illegal immigration and for the conduct of Search and Rescue (SAR) operations at sea.

Dipankar Dutta appointed as Supreme Court judge

The Centre has issued a notification for the elevation of Bombay High Court Chief Justice Dipankar Datta as a Supreme Court judge. Justice Dipankar Datta was sworn in by Chief Justice of India D.Y. Chandrachud on December 12th, 2022. Justice Datta was the former Bombay High Court Chief Justice. 57-year-old Justice Datta will serve for a nearly eight-year tenure in the Supreme court until his retirement in February 2030 at the age of 65.

  • President Droupadi Murmu has appointed Justice Datta as Judge of the Supreme Court as per powers conferred under Clause 2 of Article 124 of the Constitution.
  • Justice Datta is son of the late Justice Salil Kumar Datta, a former judge of the Calcutta High Court
  • He was born on February 9, 1965.
  • He obtained his LLB degree from the University of Calcutta in 1989, enrolled as an advocate.
  • He served as the junior standing counsel for West Bengal between May 2002 and January 2004, and a counsel for the Union government since 1998.
  • He was elected as a permanent judge of the Calcutta High Court on June 22, 2006.
  • Justice Datta assumed the charge as the Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court on April 28, 2020, and replaced Justice Bhushan P Dharmadhikari.

Permanent judges of Chhattisgarh HC was appointed

Two additional judges of the Chhattisgarh High Court were promoted as permanent judges in the same high court. Department of Justice in the Union Law Ministry issued a notification to appoint justices Narendra Kumar Vyas and Naresh Kumar Chandravanshi as judges of the Chhattisgarh High Court.

  • Narendra Kumar Vyas, B.Sc., L.L.B. enrolled as an Advocate on March 16, 1996.
  • He has more than 23 years of experience.
  • Naresh Kumar Chandravanshi, B.A., LL.B., joined the Judicial Service on 11.07.1990.

Tamil Nadu ranks first in providing medical consultation through Tele-communication

Tamil Nadu becomes the first state in India for providing medical advice to 22,58,739 people from 12 October to 8 December 2022 through health centers operating in Tamil Nadu. Welfare for all scheme(அனைவர்க்கும் நலவாழ்வு திட்டம்) is running currently to ensure quality and free healthcare to all people in the country to provide medical advice through telecommunication devices.

SS Rajamouli’s RRR received two spots on the prestigious 2023 Golden Globes nominations list. The film is nominated in the Best Picture – Non-English Language category and is competing with All Quiet on the Western Front, Argentina, 1985, Close and Decision to Leave. Yamaguchi beat Tai Tzu Ying to win her maiden BWF World Tour Finals women’s singles title

On 12th December 2022, World champion, Akane Yamaguchi of Japan defeated 3-time champion Thai Ju Ying (Chinese Taipei) in the women’s singles final of the tournament. Yamaguchi won the title with prize money of Rs.98 lakh, this is her 8th title in the year.

  • In the men’s doubles, Chinese pair Liu Yuchen and Ou Xuanyi beat Indonesia’s Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan, winning 21-17, 19-21, 21-12.
  • In the women’s doubles, Thai sisters Benyapa and Nuntakarn Aimsaard were defeated to Chinese duo Chen Qingchen and Jia Yifan 21-13, 21-14.

16th Asian Schools Chess Championships 2022

Sharvaanica A.S, a budding Chess player training at Hatsun Chess Academy emerged as the Champion in three formats of the 16th Asian Schools Chess Championships 2022 which was held in Srilanka. 7-year-old Shaarvanica wins three titles in the categories namely Asian Schools U 7 rapid champion, Asian Schools U 7 Blitz champion, and Asian Schools U 7 Champion classical.

  • Shaarvanica hails from Udayarpalayam, a small village in the Ariyalur district.
  • he is a member of Hatsun Chess Academy, and won the bronze medal for Asian schools’ U-15 division.
