Coastal Fisheries Commission Amendment Bill 2023
On August 9th, 2023, Rajya Sabha passed the Coastal Fisheries Commission Amendment Bill 2023. this amendment bill was passed in the Lok Sabha on August 7. The bill seeks an amendment to the Coastal Fisheries Commission Act, 2005, which provides Kisan credit cards to coastal fishermen and thereby the fishing community will progress.
“My Land My Country” initiative
On August 10th, 2023, The Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar’s “My Land My Country” campaign was launched in Port Blair. The “My Land My Country” campaign aims to raise awareness among the public about its main purpose.
Scheduled Castes Order Amendment Bill, 2023
The Rajya Sabha passed the Scheduled Castes Order Amendment Bill 2023 of the Constitution. The Bill will offer the repeal of the Constitution (Scheduled Castes) Act 1950 which amends the list of powers of the Scheduled Castes in the state of Chhattisgarh. This Bill will include many communities including Mahar and Mehra in Chhattisgarh.
Pakistan’s President has approved the dissolution of the National Assembly
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif sent a proposal to dissolve the country’s National Assembly on August 8, and President Arif Alvi approved his proposal on the night of August 9th, 2023. Pakistan’s elected party government completed its five-year constitutional tenure.
A new anthem for lions and an online app called Sinh Suchna
The Chief Minister of Gujarat launched a new anthem for the lion and a web and mobile app called Sinh Suchna on the occasion of World Lion Day. Gir National Park in Gujarat, India is the only natural sanctuary of Asiatic Lions in the world.
Indira Gandhi SmartPhone Program launched in Rajasthan
Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot launched the Indira Gandhi Smartphone Initiative program at a grand function organized in Jaipur, Rajasthan on August 10th, 2023. Under the program, 1.3 crore women will be allocated a free mobile phone with the necessary internet facility for a period of three years. Chief MInister Gehlot, released a book titled “Digital Sakhi” at this event.
Malabar Joint Naval Exercise for 2023
Indian Navy’s indigenous warships INS Kolkata and INS Sahyadri started the Joint Naval Exercise Malabar with the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) along with Japan Maritime Self Defense Force (JMSDF) and United States Navy (USN) ships and aircraft. The Malabar Joint Naval Exercise for 2023 will be held in Sydney, Australia from August 11 to August 21st, 2023.
- In 1992, Malabar naval exercise was started as a bilateral joint naval exercise between the two navies of India and the US.
India and UAE conduct bilateral exercises with navies
Two Indian Navy ships INS Visakhapatnam and INS Trikand reached Rashid Port in Dubai, UAE. The exercise ‘Zayed Talwar’ is scheduled to be held from August 8 to August 11. ‘Zayed Talwar’ joint naval exercise between India and the United Arab Emirates aims to contribute to regional security and enhance coordination between the two countries.
Manjusha Deshpande appointed as Additional Judge of the Bombay High Court
Advocate Manjusha Ajay Deshpande has been elected as an Additional Judge of the Bombay High Court on August 10 for a period of two years. “In exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article 224 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Smt. Manjusha Ajay Deshpande, to be an Additional Judge of the Bombay High Court for a period of two years with effect from the date she assumes charge of her office,” the Centre’s notification reads.
Saraswoti won the highest GARC Award in America
US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken presented the 2023 Global Anti-Racism Champions (GARC) Award to Nepal’s renowned social activist Saraswati. Saraswoti received the highest GARC Award for fighting for the human rights of the poor, destitute, and differently-abled for more than two decades.

Plans to launch “Conversational Payments” at RBI
The Reserve Bank of India will introduce an innovative payment processing system called “Conversational Payments” on UPI by August 2023. The “Conversational Payments” system will be designed to enable general users to interact with the artificial intelligence platform to start and complete key payment transactions in a safe and secure environment.

Noted writer Hari Narke passed away at 70
Mr. Hari Narke, a noted writer of Maharashtra and Vice President of Samata Parishad, passed away at the age of 70 due to a heart attack at a private hospital in Mumbai. He served as a professor at Savitribai Phule Pune University, a member of the Maharashtra State Commission for Backward Persons (BC), and a member of the Committee for the Classicalization of the State Marathi Language.
