Universal Health Coverage (UHC) Day conclave 2022
Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare will conduct a two days conclave commemorating the “Universal Coverage Day (UHC) 2022” on 10th and 11th December 2022 at Varanasi. Universal Coverage Day (UHC) 2022 aims that ‘all people have access to needed promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative health services, of sufficient quality to be effective.
- The theme of UHC day 2022 is “Build the World We Want: A Healthy Future for All”.
58 airports covered under Krishi Udan Scheme 2.0
In order to enhance the existing provisions, mainly focusing on transporting perishable food products from the hilly areas, North-Eastern States, and tribal areas, Krishi Udan Scheme 2.0 was launched on 27 October 2021. Krishi Udan Scheme 2.0 covers around 25 airports focusing on North Eastern, Hilly, and Tribal regions besides 28 airports in other regions/areas.
Krishi Udan Scheme 2.0
- Krishi Udan Scheme is a convergence scheme where eight Ministries/Departments aim to leverage their existing schemes to strengthen the logistics for the transportation of Agri-produce.
- The Krishi Udan Scheme 2.0 aims to increase the share of air carriage in the modal mix for transportation of Agri-produce, which includes horticulture, fishery, livestock, and processed products.
- Krishi Udan scheme was announced to provide air transportation and logistics support for perishable agri-produce as per the need.
- The Scheme aims to ensure seamless, cost-effective, time-bound, air transportation and associated logistics for all Agri-produce originating especially from North-East, hilly and tribal regions.

19t Asian art biennale held in Bangladesh
Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the 19th Asian Art Biennale in Dhaka, which is dedicated to the memory of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman who conceptualized BSA. The 19th Asian Art Biennale will be a month-long art show and will be held at the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) premises in Dhaka. it will showcase 712 pieces of artwork created by 493 artists from 114 countries including 149 Bangladeshi artists.
- The Theme of the 19th Asian Art Biennale 2022 is ‘Home and Displacement’.
International Fleet Review 2022
Indian Navy participated in the maiden International Fleet Review (IFR) hosted by Bangladesh at Cox’s Bazar on 7 December 2022 to commemorate the Birth Centenary of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of the Independence of Bangladesh.
- Indian Navy’s three ships Guided Missile Destroyer INS Kochi, Anti-Submarine Warfare Corvette INS Kavaratti, and Offshore Patrol Vessel Sumedha participated in the first International Fleet Review (IFR) 2022.
World’s strongest passports list 2022: India stands at 87th position, UAE ranked the best
The world’s strongest passports list 2022 has been released by Arton Capital ranked the world’s strongest and weakest passports. as per the Passports Index 2022 list, UAE has got the first position in the rating of passports for 2022, while India was ranked 87 in the list of the strongest passports in the world.
- While UAE topped the list and followed by Germany, Sweden, Finland, Luxembourg, Spain, and France have been ranked next. Pakistan was 94th, while Afghanistan was last.
- This year’s list was prepared by Henley & Partners ranked the nation’s travel document as the best in the world.

Climate Change Action Plan launched in Tamil Nadu
On 9th December 2022, Chief Minister M.K.Stalin inaugurated the Climate Change Action Plan to monitor climate change in Tamil Nadu in Chennai. Climate Change Action Plan was allocated a fund of Rs.77.35 crore for the first phase of implementation of the ‘Tamil Nadu Climate Change Initiative’.
Tamil Nadu launched a sanitation worker development scheme
Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated the Sanitation Workers’ Development Scheme to protect the welfare of conservancy workers in the State. CM also launched a mobile application to help identify and collect census data of sanitation workers as part of the scheme. the main purpose of the scheme is to improve the welfare of the conservancy workers who face many socio-economic challenges in their workplace every day.
- The scheme will provide protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, leg shoes, and luminous shirts to 53,301 sanitation workers, including 18,859 permanent employees and 34,442 temporary contract workers in the urban local bodies.

Sushmita Shukla appointed First VP, COO of Federal Reserve Bank of New York
Indian-origin veteran of the insurance industry Sushmita Shukla has been appointed as the First Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. The appointment was approved by the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, the New York Fed.
- 54 years old Shukla was appointed by the Board of Directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York as First Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, effective March 2023.
- As First Vice President Shukla holds an MBA from New York University and a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Mumbai.
- She will be the New York Fed’s second-ranking officer.
