Labour Ministry launches ‘Donate-a-Pension’ initiative
Union Labour and Employment Minister Bhupender Yadav have launched the ‘Donate-a-Pension (‘डोनेट-ए-पेंशन’)’ programme under Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-Dhan (PM-SYM) for people to contribute to the pension fund of their support staff on 7th March 2022 (Monday).
- “Launched ‘Donate-a-Pension’ programme is an initiative under (PM-SYM) pension scheme and people can donate the premium contribution of their immediate support staff such as domestic workers, drivers, helpers etc.
- 18-40 years aged unorganised sector workers can register themselves and deposit a minimum of Rs 660 to 2400 every year.
- They will get the minimum assured pension of Rs 3,000 per month when they will turn in 60.

9th India-Sri Lanka Bilateral Maritime Exercise SLINEX
THE NINTH (9th) edition of the India-Sri Lanka bilateral maritime exercise named SLINEX is being conducted from 07 March to 10 March 2022 at Visakhapatnam.
- the main purpose of this exercise is to enhance interoperability and improve mutual understanding between the navies of the two neighbouring countries in the strategically significant Indian Ocean Region.
- SLINEX (Sri Lanka–India Naval Exercise) has been scheduled in two phases. The first phase named the harbour phase will be held at Visakhapatnam on March 7 and 8.
- followed by the sea phase will be conducted on March 9 and 10 in the Bay of Bengal.
- From the India Side, the Indian Navy will represent INS Kirch, a guided missile corvette.
- Sri Lanka Navy will represent SLNS Sayurala, an advanced offshore patrol vessel.

India win a Gold Medal in women’s 25m pistol team event at Cairo ISSF World Cup 2022
Indian Rahi Sarnobat, Esha Singh and Rhythm Sangwan have clinched gold in the women’s 25m pistol team event on the penultimate day of the International Shooting Sport Federation World Cup in Cairo on 6th March 2022 (Sunday).
- Indian team defeated Singapore’s Shun Xie Teo, Xiu Hong Teh and Ling Chiao Nicole Tan, 17-13.
- On the other hand, Anish Bhanwala, Gurpreet Singh and Bhavesh Shekhawat have received a silver medal in 25m Rapid Fire Pistol Team event.
- Germany’s Christian Reitz, Oliver Geis and Florian Peter beat the Indian men’s 25m pistol team of Anish Bhanwala, Gurpreet Singh and Bhavesh Shekhawat by 17-7.
ISSF World Cup 2022: India tops medal table with 7 medals including 4 golds
India has received a total of seven medals including four gold, two silver and one bronze medal and topped the medals tally. the ISSF World Cup 2022 was held in Cairo, Egypt.

Tech giant Microsoft will establish its fourth data centre in Hyderabad, Telangana, with an investment of over Rs 15,000 crore, announced on 7th March 2022 (Monday).
- The 4th Microsoft data centre in India will be one of the largest data centres in India and will be operational by 2025.

Former Australian wicketkeeper Rod Marsh passes away at 74
Australian cricket great Rod Marsh has passed away at the age of 74 after suffering a heart attack at a charity event. Rod Marsh was widely regarded as one of the finest wicketkeepers to ever play the game
- he played 96 test matches and 92 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) for Australia.
- He was the 1st Australian wicketkeeper to score a Test century.
