Indian Navy received 4th Scorpene Submarine named ‘Vela’
Indian Navy has received the 4th Scorpene submarine of the Project-75, Yard 11878 on 9th November 2021 and it will be commissioned as INS (Indian Naval Ship) Vela.
- INS (Indian Naval Ship) Vela has been designed by Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) Mumbai (Maharashtra) with the help of M/s Naval Group, France.
- At present, three submarines under Project-75 are providing their services with the Indian Navy viz. INS Karanj, INS Kalvari, and INS Khanderi.

Spanish-German actor Daniel Bruhl has been appointed as a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP).
- Actor Daniel Bruhl will play a role in helping the humanitarian organisation in its mission to achieve a world with Zero Hunger.
- he will create awareness about the main drivers of hunger and showcase the efforts of UN WFP to tackle both immediate needs and root causes of hunger.
Plaeto ropes Rahul Dravid as brand ambassador
Plaeto brand has roped in Rahul Dravid as its brand ambassador and mentor. Rahul Dravid will support a campaign, has been developed by Bangalore-based People Design and Communication, in partnership with team Plaeto.
- The video campaign is to be promoted across the brand’s social media channels and will go live on 14th November 2021.
- Plaeto was founded by Ravi Kallayil, Sara Kilgore and Pavan Kareti in March 2020.
SN Pradhan appointed as Director-General of NCB
Satya Narayan Pradhan has been appointed as the new Director-General (DG) of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and will serve till the date of his superannuation on 31st August 2024 or until further orders.
- Earlier, Satya Narayan was holding the additional charge as the DG of NCB in addition to the responsibilities as the DG of NDRF.
- Pradhan gets the additional charge as the DG of NCB and replaces Rakesh Asthana has been appointed as Delhi Police Commissioner.
Fumio Kishida re-elected as Japan’s Prime Minister
Fumio Kishida has been appointed as the New Prime Minister (PM) of Japan. Fumio Kishida is the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and has won the 2021 Parliament election.
- Fumio Kishida will take place of Yoshihide Suga who resigned as PM of Japan in September 2021.
- Kishida’s party secured 261 seats in the 465-member lower house in the quick election.

Renowned author Anand Shankar Pandya passes away at 99
Renowned author Anand Shankar Pandya has passed away and he was over 99 years old. Anand Shankar was the Former Vice President of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP).
- He was a prolific author and public intellectual who has authored extensively on history, public policy and spirituality. He was active in the VHP and served selflessly towards social service.

World Diabetes Day 2021
Every Year, World Diabetes Day is celebrated on November 14th across the world. this day also marks the birthday of Sir Frederick Banting, who discovered the insulin hormone along with Charles Herbert Best in 1922.
- In 1991, International Diabetes Foundation (IDF) and the World Health Organisation (WHO) established World Diabetes Day in order to raise awareness about growing concerns that escalating health threat posed by the ailment.
- The theme for World Diabetes Day 2021-23 is “Access to Diabetes Care – If Not Now, When?”, the theme shares a message for diabetes care.
