OCCDF Public Service Scholarship 2024

The Ohio Conference of Community Development (OCCD) created the scholarship fund to honor two men who dedicated their careers to Public Service. The winner will receive an award of $2,000 which will be used to cover tuition and other educational-related expenses.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this scholarship, you must.

  • Be a resident of Ohio
  • Attend an accredited university in Ohio and meet the following requirements:
    • Undergraduate students: must be a third- or fourth-year undergraduate student enrolled full-time in Fall 2024
    • Graduate student: entrolled in a graduate program part-time or full-time in Fall 2024
    • Be enrolled in a field of study that prepares students for a career in public service, including public administration, planning, public finance or related field
    • Be in good academic standing

Timeline

  • Application packets are due by 5 pm on Friday, May 24, 2024
  • Awardee(s) will be notified by June 10, 2024
  • Awards will be presented at the July 2024 Annual OCCD Meeting

  • Up-to-date transcript
  • One-page essay addressing why students wants to enter public service
  • Two recommendation letters – one from a professor and one from a community member – addressing student’s dedication to a future in public service.

Selection Process

Applicants will be assessed based on three factors: their essays, recommendation letters, and cumulative GPA. An ideal candidate would be one who sufficiently covers all these three facets.
