Narendra Singh Tomar inaugurates a meeting on agriculture for the 2022 Kharif campaign
Union Agriculture Minister Shri Narendra Singh Tomar has launched the National Conference on Agriculture for the Kharif Campaign 2022-23 at the NASC Complex in New Delhi.
- As per the 2nd Advance Estimates (2021-22), total food grain production in India can reach 3160 lakh tonnes.
- The production of pulses and oilseeds will be 269.5 lakh tonnes and 371.5 lakh tonnes, respectively.
J&K launched ‘Jan Nigrani’ app to lodge complaints
The Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Jammu and Kashmir has launched an app named ‘Jan Nigrani’. ‘Jan Nigrani’ app aims to help people lodge their complaints related to various schemes online.
- The Jan Nigrani app will be a 24×7 internet-based platform and will report and resolve the grievances of the residents of J&K, against various government schemes launched by the department.
India’s first pure green hydrogen plant commissioned in Assam
Oil India Limited (OIL) has commissioned India’s first pure Green Hydrogen pilot plant at its Jorhat Pump Station in Assam.
- The Green Hydrogen pilot plant has an installed capacity of 10 kg per day and it will generate Green Hydrogen from the electricity generated by a 500kW Solar plant using a 100 kW Anion Exchange Membrane (AEM) Electrolyser array.

LV Vaidyanathan appointed as CEO of P&G India
Procter & Gamble India has decided to appoint LV Vaidyanathan as the new chief executive officer.
- Vaidyanathan leads the company’s business in Indonesia and will replace Madhusudan Gopalan from July 1, 2022 who will move into a new role at the parent company.
- He is having an experience of more than 26 years across diverse geographies and cultures including India and ASEAN countries including Singapore, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.
Lt Gen Manoj Kumar Katiyar as next DG of Military Operations
Lieutenant General Manoj Kumar Katiyar was elected as the next Director-General of Military Operations. Manoj Kumar will assume the charge as Director-General of Military Operations from 1st May 2022.
- Lieutenant General Katiyar is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy and was commissioned in the 23rd Battalion of the Rajput Regiment in June 1986.
Jasleen Kohli named as MD & CEO of Digit Insurance
Jasleen Kohli has been appointed as Digit Insurance’s new managing director (MD) and chief executive officer (CEO) with effect from April 20, 2022.
- Jasleen has replaced Vijay Kumar who retired from the company on April 19, 2022.
- She has served as chief distribution officer (CDO) at Digit, where she was responsible for all of the company’s sales and distribution channels.
Shanti Sethi appointed as Kamala Harris’s defence advisor
Indian-American Navy veteran Shanti Sethi has been appointed as USA Vice President Kamala Harris’s Defence Adviser.
- Sethi becomes the first Indian-American commander of a major US Navy combat ship.
- Sethi has also commanded the guided-missile destroyer, USS Decatur between December 2010 and May 2012.
- She was also the 1st female commander of a US naval vessel to visit India.

Scorpene-class Submarine ‘VAGSHEER’ inaugurated at Mazagon Dock Limited
INS Vagsheer, the sixth (6th) Scorpene Submarine of Project-75 was launched by the Indian Navy at the Kanhoji Angre Wet Basin of Mazagon Dock Limited (MDL) in Mumbai. the name of the submarine is ‘Vagsheer’.
- Vagsheer submarine will undergo rigorous harbour trials and sea trials. French naval defence and energy company ‘DCNS’ has designed these submarines and has been manufactured by Mazagon Dock Limited, Mumbai.
