International Mother Earth Day 2022: History, Significance and Theme – Every year, April 22nd is observed as International Mother Earth Day. It aims to create awareness regarding the rampant increase in pollution and other activities which directly or indirectly harm the environment and result in the destruction of the planet.
- It also marks the environmental issues which are surrounding our planet and taking action to save the environment.
International Mother Earth Day 2022: History
- The peace activist John Mc Connell proposed to honour Mother Earth and the concept of peace during a UNESCO conference in San Francisco and Earth Day was first celebrated on 22nd April 1970.
- In the 1970s, Senator Gaylord Nelson founded Earth Day to promote ecology and raise awareness of the concerns surrounding the earth.
International Mother Earth Day 2022: Theme
- The theme for 2022 International Mother Earth Day – is ‘Invest in our Planet.’
- The International Mother Earth Day Theme 2021 is Restore Our Earth.
