World Day of Social Justice 2023: Date, Theme, History – Every year, World Day of Social Justice is observed on 20 February to promote gender equality, indigenous peoples and migrants’ rights. it also aims to achieve the goal of full employment and social integration.

World Day of Social Justice 2023: Theme

This 2023 theme is “Overcoming Barriers and Unleashing Opportunities for Social Justice”, focusing on the recommendations of the United Nations (UN) to strengthen global solidarity and rebuild trust in governments.

The theme of World Day of Social Justice 2020 was “Closing the Inequalities Gap to Achieve Social Justice”.

The theme of World Day of Social Justice 2019 was ‘If you want Peace and Development, Work for Social Justice’. 

World Day of Social Justice: History

World Summit for Social Development was held in Copenhagen, Denmark, and resulted in the Copenhagen Declaration and Programme of Action in 1995.

On 26 November 2007, the UN General Assembly designated the day of 20 February as the annual World Day of Social Justice.

In 2009, this day was first observed.
