6th Soil Health Card Day on 19th February
On 19th February 2021, India’s citizens have observed the 6th Soil Health Card Day.
Purpose:
- This day commemorates the launch of the Soil Health Card (SHC) Scheme and also it creates awareness among citizens regarding the advantages of the scheme.
History:
- In 2015, PM Modi launched the Soil Health Card (SHC) Scheme at Suratgarh in Rajasthan.
Soil Health Card (SHC) Scheme:
- The Soil Health Card (SHC) Scheme purposes to issue soil health cards to countries farmers and also ensures additional income to farmers by an increase in yields.
- This scheme also encourages sustainable farming.
