PM Modi inaugurates ‘Azadi@75 – New Urban India: Transforming Urban Landscape’ Conference-cum-Expo in Lucknow

PM Narendra Modi has inaugurated ‘Azadi@75 – New Urban India: Transforming Urban Landscape’ Conference-cum-Expo in Lucknow at the Indira Gandhi Pratishthan.

  • The Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs (MoHUA) organised the Conference-cum-Expo from 5th to 7th October 2021 as part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’.
  • It acts as a platform to showcase the prospective transformative urban missions.
  • The Conference-cum-Expo also marks the achievements and the flagship urban development missions undertaken in the past 7 years of the Modi government.
  • The theme of the three-day event is “New Urban India”. 

Centre launches ICMR’s drone-based vaccine delivery model ‘i-Drone’ in North East

The Health and Family Welfare Union Minister Shri Mansukh Mandaviya has launched a drone-based vaccine delivery model named ‘i-Drone’ for Northeast states, which was developed by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

  • The full form of ‘i-Drone’ is ICMR’s Drone Response and Outreach in North East.
  • It aims to facilitate vaccine delivery to tough and hard-to-reach terrains of India.
  • It will also help in improving healthcare accessibility.
  • In the beginning, the drone-based delivery project has been started for Manipur, Nagaland, and union territory of Andaman and Nicobar Island.

40th-India International Trade Fair 2021

The 40th edition of the India International Trade Fair (IITF) will be conducted by the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi from November 14th to November 27th, 2021.

  • It will acts as a platform for visitors and exhibitors, media persons, marketing professional, social activists, NGOs in order to explore their objectives, including in business; social, cultural and educational dimensions.
  • The theme of the 40th edition of the India International Trade Fair (IITF)in 2021 is ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’.
  • It will run for 14 days.

5th India-Japan Bilateral Maritime Exercise JIMEX-21

The fifth edition of India – Japan Maritime Bilateral Exercise, JIMEX 2021 is scheduled between 6th October and 8th October 2021. the JIMEX Exercisewill be conducted between the Indian Navy (IN) and the Japan Maritime Self-Defence Force (JMSDF) in Arabian Sea.

  • JIMEX exercises have been conducting since January 2012 with special focus on maritime security cooperation.
  • The main purpose of the JIMEX-21 is to develop common understanding of operational procedures.
  • It will also help in enhancing inter-operability through conduct of a multitude of advanced exercises, across the entire spectrum of maritime operations.
  • From Indian side, indigenously built Guided Missile Stealth Destroyer Kochi and Guided Missile Frigate Teg, P8I Long Range Maritime Patrol Aircraft, Dornier Maritime Patrol Aircraft, integral helicopters and MiG 29K fighter aircraft will be showcase.

Syukuro Manabe, Klaus Hasselmann and Giorgio Parisi won Nobel Prize in Physics 2021

On October 2021, Syukuro Manabe, Klaus Hasselmann and Giorgio Parisi have been awarded with Nobel Prize in Physics 2021.

  • US-based Syukuro Manabe and Klaus Hasselmann of Germany contributed “for the physical modelling of Earth’s climate, quantifying variability and reliably predicting global warming”.
  • Giorgio Parisi who has received the award “for the discovery of the interplay of disorder and fluctuations in physical systems from atomic to planetary scales.”

BC Patnaik sworn in as new managing director of LIC

B C Patnaik has assumed the post of the Managing Director of insurance giant Life Insurance Corporation (LIC).

  • Patnaik has replaced Mukesh Kumar Gupta, who completed his tenure on September 30th, 2021.
  • Patnaik has served as the secretary General at Council for Insurance Ombudsmen(CIO), Mumbai.

World Chess Champion Magnus Carlsen has earned the inaugural Meltwater Champions Chess Tour (MCCT) on 4th October 2021.

  • The chess tournaments was held online on chess24.com and run for a 10-month long from November 22, 2020 till October 4, 2021.
  • The 2021 Meltwater Champions Chess Tour has been the most viewed online chess event in history of the game.
