SEG Scholarships 2025

Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) established the SEG Scholarship to provide academic-based merit scholarships to students pursuing a career in geophysics and geoscience. The award is sounded by the SEG Foundation and its corporate and individual supporters.

The Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) Scholarships aims to encourage the study of geophysics and related geosciences in universities around the world. The Scholarships range from US$500 to US$10,000 per academic year, covering tuition, books, and fees; average awards will be around US$3,200. The number of scholarships available relies chiefly upon the number of sponsors and the amounts they contribute.

Eligibility Criteria

SEG Scholarships will be offered based on merit. To qualify, you must be a student who:

• Must be a high school senior planning to attend college next year or an undergraduate or graduate college student;
• Must have above average grades – 3.5;
• Must be intending to pursue a college curriculum directed toward a career in applied geophysics.

Application Process

To apply for the program, you will have to submit your application.

• Students must have current transcripts.
• Must provide email addresses for two faculty members who have agreed to serve as references
• Submit your application online between 1 November and 1 March 2024.

Selection Process

Applications will be considered based on their strong academic background, clear-cut career purpose, and availability to pursue the career path. Applicants will have to show their academic background using their transcripts. The applications will be evaluated based on merit and top-ranked students will be awarded the scholarship.
