Sabuja Odisha Initiative

  • The Odisha govt has decided to roll out a new initiative ‘Sabuja Odisha’. this decision was taken under the meetin chaired by Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy. the Sabuja Odisha will increase green cover over 1,30,264 Hectares of land through extensive plantations.
  • Almost 1.30 lakh hectares of land, has been planted for seedlings in different 2,660 locations.

Important Points :

  • In order to real-time monitoring and program’s supervision, a web-based system will be created.
  • Under the chairmanship of Collector, District level Committee is to be formed that will work for successful coordination and implementation of the programme.
  • The Divisional Forest Officer’s Headquarters will play role as Plantation Officer in the district and give guidelines to their own micro-level work plan for better plantations.
  • In the state, Under initiative, People will be distributed seedling at the price of Rs 1 per seedling. There will a website that is to be used to upload for continuous monitoring through satellite applications.
  • Compared to last year, identified land is doubled which was only 68,358 hectares in last year.
