International Civil Aviation Day 2023: The International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) celebrates International Civil Aviation Day every year on December 7. The day aims to remind flyers of the huge impact of the aviation industry on economic and social advancement across the world. The day also recognises the fact that the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) holds a special responsibility to uphold the security, cooperation, and effectiveness of international aviation to make air travel more accessible and easier.

The International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) is a United Nations (UN) body and is responsible for maintaining global aviation safety standards. ICAO works with the World Health Organization (WHO), the World Meteorological Organisation, the Universal Postal Union, the International Maritime Organisation, and the International Telecommunication Union.

• The council of ICAO will celebrate every five-year special anniversary theme for International Civil Aviation Day

International Civil Aviation Day: History

On December 7, 1994, the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) first observed International Civil Aviation Day to mark the 50th anniversary of the Chicago Convention. Thereafter, the UN General Assembly designated December 7 to be International Civil Aviation Day in 1996.
