International Day of Banks 2021 – Every year, the International Day of Banks is observed on 4th December by the United Nations. it aims to recognise the importance of multilateral and international development banks in financing sustainable developments.

  • The day also highlights a vital role of banking systems in Member states in contributing to the improvement of the standard of living.

History and Significance

  • The United Nations General Assembly designated the day of 4th December as the International Day of Banks in 2019, and in the next year, it was celebrated for the first time in 2020.
