  • On 17th May 2020, in New Delhi, The Union Finance & Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has intorduced various initiatives that may help in boosting the education sector.

The immediate set of initiatives includes:

  • PM e-VIDYA : An initiative named as PM e-VIDYA is going to be launched that combines all efforts related to digital/online/on-air education. PM e-VIDYA would enable multi-mode access to education and also, comprises of : DIKSHA (one nation-one digital platform), TV (one class-one channel), SWAYAM online courses in MOOCS format for school and higher education, IITPAL for IITJEE/NEET preparation.
  • Manodarpan initiative : it will provide various support via a website, a toll-free helpline, national directory of counselors, interactive chat platform and so on. This initiative will give advantages to all school-going children in the nation and also, including their parents, teachers, and the community of stakeholders in school education.
  • e-learning : Indian Govt plans to expand e-learning in higher education by liberalizing open, distance, and an online education regulatory frameworks.
  • National Curriculum and Pedagogical Framework : The indian Govt plans to create a new National Curriculum and Pedagogical Framework for school education, teacher education and childhood stage to make students and future teachers prepared as per global benchmarks.
  • National Foundational Literacy and Numeracy Mission : GOI wants to launch National Foundational Literacy and Numeracy Mission. it will ensure that every child in the India necessarily gets foundational literacy and numeracy in Grade 3 by 2020.
