Good Governance Day 2023: Every year, Good Governance Day is observed on December 25. The day falls on former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s birth anniversary. The day also pays a tribute to Vajpayee’s leadership and his contributions to society.

Good Governance Day History

Atal Bihari Vajpayee was a stalwart in Indian politics and served as the Prime Minister of the country thrice. The Good Governance Day was established on December 23, 2014, when Atal Bihari Vajpayee, along with Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya (posthumously), was honoured with the Bharat Ratna. In the wake of this prestigious recognition, the Narendra Modi government designated December 25 as Good Governance Day, paying homage to Vajpayee’s legacy.

Good Governance Day 2023 Celebrations

The Good Governance Week (Sushasan Saptah) celebration was started on December 19. The week-long event will conclude on December 25, 2023. Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances (DARPG) conducts the events and seminars surrounding the week.

The inaugural ceremony was held at the Dr Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi, where Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh published a special booklet on the Journey of 25 Regional Conferences from 2014-2023 and the Annual Report 2023 of CPGRAMS.

CPGRAMS Mobile App

A mobile app, called CPGRAMS Mobile App, will be launched to empower citizens to file grievances conveniently, including through voice-based filing.
