MSDE organises Pradhan Mantri National Apprenticeship Mela

Pradhan Mantri National Apprenticeship Mela

Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) will conduct the Pradhan Mantri National Apprenticeship Mela (PMNAM) in over 200 districts nationwide on 8th May 2023. The Ministry said in a statement that several local businesses and organizations have been invited to participate in this apprenticeship mela to provide relevant apprenticeship training opportunities to local youth. The event will see the participation of many companies representing various sectors.

  • Organizations will be able to connect with potential apprentices for strengthening the livelihood opportunities of the youth.
  • Individuals can register for the mela on the website www.apprenticeshipindia.gov.in and find the nearest location of the Mela.
  • The candidates from Class 5 to Class 12 pass out or have skill training certificates or are ITI certificate holders or Diploma holders or graduates can apply in this apprenticeship mela.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to inaugurate Indian Air Force Heritage Centre in Chandigarh

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will inaugurate the Indian Air Force Heritage Centre in Chandigarh on 8th May 2023. along with it, He will lay the foundation stone for the Centre for Cyber Ops and Security. The Heritage Centre will comprise of artifacts, simulators and interactive boards, to emphasise the various facets of operations in the Indian Air Force.

  • Indian Air Force Heritage Centre will showcase humanitarian assistance and disaster relief besides its combat capabilities.
  • It will motivate and inspire the youth of this city in making a career in the Indian Air Force.

Border Haat between India and Bangladesh inaugurated at Bholaganj in Sylhet

Under the Companiganj upazila of Sylhet, A new Border-Haat between India and Bangladesh was inaugurated by Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister of Bangladesh Imran Ahmed and Assistant High Commissioner of India Niraj Kumar Jaiswal jointly in Bholaganj.

  • Border Haat at Bholaganj on the border between Sylhet in Bangladesh and East Khasi Hills of Meghalaya is the 4th Border Haat in Sylhet division out of which three are currently functional.
  • The first Border Haat was inaugurated in 2011 in the West Garo Hills district of Meghalaya at Kalaichar and Kurigram in Bangladesh.

RBI, BIS launch global technology competition ‘G20 TechSprint’

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) launched a global technology competition titled G20 TechSprint. RBI and the BIS Innovation Hub jointly announced the 4th edition of the G20 TechSprint. The 2023 TechSprint will concentrate on developing innovative technology solutions for cross-border payments.

  • The shortlisted team will be eligible for a stipend of eight lakh rupees approximately 10,000 US dollars.
  • The winners for each problem statement will be given an award of forty lakh rupees approximately 50,000 US dollars.

Jeremy Lalrinnunga wins silver medal at Jinju, Korea

India’s weightlifter Jeremy Lalrinnunga won a silver medal with a lift of 141 kg in the 67 kg weight class at the Asian Weightlifting Championships in Jinju, Korea. Mohammed Hussamuddin of India defeated Russia’s Savvin Eduard, 5-0 in a unanimous decision to enter into the 57 kg quarterfinals in the World Boxing Championships.

  • World Athletics Day was founded in 1996 by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) president and Italian sports official Primo Nebiolo.
  • The IAAF was established in Stockholm, Sweden, on July 17, 1912.
