Houston University inks MoU with ICCR on Tamil language, literature

The University of Houston signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) on March 29, 2023, for the purpose of setting up the ICCR Chair of Indian Studies to conduct research on the Tamil language, literature and culture.

  • The MoU is the years-long effort to bolster the university’s Indian studies programme.

  • The Tamil language is believed the oldest in the world and is one of the top five languages spoken in the United States, which is home to nearly 3,00,000 Tamil Americans.
  • the MoU will further help in enhancing and deepening the US education and knowledge partnership.

Bahrain launches Golden Licence to attract large-scale investment projects

Bahrain takes a significant step towards incentivizing investments and job creation by launching a new initiative, the Golden Licence. The Golden Licence will offer streamlined services and benefits to local and foreign businesses with large-scale investment projects in Bahrain.

G20 Science Summit on Clean Energy for Greener Future begins at Agartala in Tripura

The two-day Science-20 conference under India’s G20 presidency was started at the Hapania International Fair Ground in Agartala, Tripura today. over 60 delegates have joined this science conclave titledClean Energy for Greener future‘ as part of the G20 meetings.

  • The meeting will witness three sub-themes being discussed including green hydrogen, mankind to harness the vast amount of energy through tidal currents and new generation energy storage.

In a first, Eravikulam National Park gets a fernarium

Eravikulam National Park (ENP), the natural habitat of Nilgiri tahr in Munnar, has a new attraction — a Fernarium set up inside the park. this is the first time such a fern collection has been established in the hill station. 52 varieties of ferns were already planted in the new Fernarium. “As per data, Eravikulam National Park (ENP) has 104 varieties of ferns.


RBI appoints Neeraj Nigam as executive director

The Reserve Bank of India appointed Neeraj Nigam as executive director (ED) who will look after four departments, including that consumer education and protection. Nigam served in Regulation and Supervision, human resource management, premises, currency management, bank accounts and other areas in the Reserve Bank.

  • He holds a Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Barkatullah University, Bhopal.
  • He also achieved the professional qualification of Certified Associate of Indian Institute of Banking and Finance (CAIIB)


10th Indian Navy – Sri Lanka Navy bilateral maritime exercise SLINEX-2023 commences at Colombo

The 10th Edition of the annual Indian Navy – Sri Lanka Navy bilateral maritime exercise SLINEX-2023 started in Colombo on 3rd April 2023. the SLINEX-2023 exercise will be held in two phases of three days each, the Harbour Phase and the Sea Phase.

  • SLINEX-2023 aim to boost inter-operability, improve mutual understanding and exchange best practices and procedures in multi-faceted Maritime operations between both Navies.
  • The 9th edition of SLINEX was held in Visakhapatnam from the 7th to the 12th of March last year.
