Houston University inks MoU with ICCR on Tamil language, literature

Houston University inks MoU with ICCR on Tamil language, literature – The University of Houston signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) on March 29, 2023, for the purpose of setting up the ICCR Chair of Indian Studies to conduct research on the Tamil language, literature and culture.

  • The MoU is the years-long effort to bolster the university’s Indian studies programme.

  • The Tamil language is believed the oldest in the world and is one of the top five languages spoken in the United States, which is home to nearly 3,00,000 Tamil Americans.
  • the MoU will further help in enhancing and deepening the US education and knowledge partnership.
