India launches ‘Operation Kaveri’ to bring back citizens stranded in Sudan

India launched Operation Kaveri which aims to bring back its citizens stranded in Sudan. External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar said that nearly 500 Indians reached Port Sudan and more are on their way. Indian ships and aircraft will bring stranded Indian nationals back home. the Government of India is committed to assisting all its brethren in Sudan.

PM Modi to flag off Vande Bharat Express in Kerala

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off Kerala’s first Vande Bharat Express at Thiruvananthapuram Central Station. PM Modi is also going to lay the foundation stone and dedicate various projects to the nation worth more than three thousand two hundred crore rupees in Kerala.

  • Kerala’s first Vande Bharat Express will start its services between Thiruvananthapuram and Kasargod, passing through 11 districts, and covering a distance of around 588 kilometres in around eight hours.
  • PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone of the Digital Science Park in Thiruvananthapuram.

Minister Bhupender Yadav launches new features on eShram portal

Labour and Employment Minister Bhupender Yadav launched new features on the eShram portal. the new features will help in enhancing its utility for unorganised workers in New Delhi. The portal will now enable them to connect with employment opportunities, skilling, apprenticeships, pension schemes, digital skilling and states’ schemes.

  • Also, the centre launched a Data Sharing Portal for sharing eShram data with state and union territory governments.
  • A new feature that captures the family details of migrant workers has also been added to provide access to child education and women-centric schemes for those who have migrated with family.
  • It will now share data of construction workers registered on eShram with the respective Building and Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board to ensure they have access to relevant schemes.

Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena released a special stamp depicting the history of the Sita Amman Temple, together with a first-day cover. he has also laid the foundation stone for an International Meditation Centre at the Sita Amman Temple at Sita Eliya in Nuwara Eliya.

Japan’s Health Ministry approved the country’s first abortion pill for boosting reproductive rights. The approval came from the Health Ministry’s Pharmaceutical Board after it approved the MeFeego Pack abortion pill manufactured by British pharmaceutical Linepharma.

Md. Sahabuddin takes oath as the 22nd President of Bangladesh

Veteran freedom fighter, jurist and politician Md. Sahabuddin was sworn in as the 22nd President of Bangladesh on 24 April 2023 in Dhaka, Bangladesh. He was administered the oath of office by Parliament Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury in the presence of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddique, Cabinet members and other dignitaries.

  • Md. Sahabuddin was born on December 10, 1949, in Pabna town of Bangladesh.
  • His nickname is Chupu. he completed his MSc degree from Rajshahi University in 1974, and entered into the Judicial service in Bangladesh.
  • During his career, he worked as District and Sessions Judge and Anti Corruption Commissioner (ACC) Commissioner.
  • Sahabuddin joined the 6-Point Movement in 1966, the Bhutta (Maize) Movement in 1967, mass uprisings in1969, the election of 1970 and the Liberation War in 1971.
  • He had also led a protest against the brutal killing of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujiburrahman.

PM Modi lays foundation stone and inaugurates projects worth over Rs 17000 crore on National Panchayati Raj Day

Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone and inaugurated projects worth over Rs 17,000 crore on National Panchayati Raj Day in Madhya Pradesh. PM Modi inaugurated the integrated e-Gram Swaraj and GeM portal for public procurement at the panchayat level. The project aims to enable Panchayats to market their goods and services through GeM.

  • PM Modi also launched the campaign “विकास की ओर साझे क़दम” “means Joint steps towards development”, focusing on inclusive development, the campaign is focused on extending the benefits of schemes to the last mile.
  • PM handed over around 35 lakh Swamitva Property Cards to the beneficiaries.
  • Prime Minister Modi laid the foundation stone and inaugurated various railway projects worth about two thousand 300 crore rupees.
  • He inaugurated the redevelopment of Gwalior station and flag off three trains.
  • Prime Minister laid the foundation stone of five projects of the Jal Jeevan Mission worth about seven thousand 853 crore rupees to benefit around 9.5 lakh families of more than four thousand villages.

Rajesh Kumar Singh appointed as new DPIIT secretary

1989 batch IAS Rajesh Kumar Singh assumed charge as the new Secretary, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Ministry of Commerce and Industry. He has replaced Anurag Jain, lAS, who has been appointed as Secretary, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.

  • Rajesh Kumar Singh served as Secretary, Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying.
