Every year, Coming of Age Day is observed on January 8. It is a national holiday in Japan that takes place every second Monday of January. The day is one of the most anticipated Japanese ceremonies.

Coming of Age Day – History
In 1948, the holiday received official status honours in Japan to be held every year on January 15. However, the Coming of Age Day date was changed to the second Monday in January in 2000.
