Every year, National 4th Graders Day is observed on the second Monday in January. In 2024, it will take place on January 8. Fourth-grade students get challenges in math, reading, writing, social studies, and science, as well as art, music, world language, and physical education.

The day was originally the suggestion of two teachers from New Jersey, U.S. Jillian Hagberg and Donna Hennessy are both fourth-grade teachers at the Community Charter School of Paterson.
