Canal based water supply
- The Cabinet of Punjab state has granted its approval a 285.71 million dollars (almost Rs 2,130 crore) project for canal-based water supply for two cities Amritsar and Ludhiana. The Cabinet was headed by Chief Minister Amarinder Singh via a video conferencing. the projects will be funded from World Bank (WB) (70%) and Punjab govt (30%). Apart from this, cabinet give approval for an amendment to the Land Pooling Policy.
- The International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) is going to offer USD 200 million amount and State Govt will fund USD 85.71 million for projects.
What is Amendment to the Land Pooling Policy ?
- This policy is created for residential Sector and for its extension to the Industrial Sector in the jurisdiction of the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA).
