The American Association of Blacks in Energy is offered to support the academic achievements of students who are looking for careers in the energy industry, by awarding scholarships to those students who meet the minimum scholarship qualifications.
The annual scholarship grants $3,000–$5,000 to 13 graduating high school seniors. 12 winners will get $3,000 while a $5,000 renewable scholarship will be one student. The scholarships are available for graduating high school seniors who will major in engineering, physical sciences, technology, or business.

Eligibility Criteria
- Must have a Minimum GPA: of 3.0
- Unweighted academic average of B or better (3.0 on a 4.0 scale)
- Graduating high school senior who plans to enroll next semester in an accredited college or university
- Pursuing a major in business, one of the physical sciences, technology, engineering, or mathematics fields (STEM)
- Underrepresented groups (African Americans, Hispanics, or Native Americans)

Selection Process
Applications will be assessed based on scholastic achievement, extracurricular activities, and writing skills. Points will be given to applicants based on their average GPAs, ACT/SAT scores, number of extracurricular activities they were involved in, and number of Advanced Classes they took. Extra points will be based on ethnicity and degree major.
