World Press Freedom Index 2020 – 

  • The World Press Freedom index of 2020 has been published by Reporters Without Borders (RSF). as per index, Norway has topped for the fourth year in a row. India has got place of 142th in a recent index. The Reporters Without Borders assessed journalists’ current situation in 180 countries and territories.
  • Followed by Finland, Denmark, Sweden and Netherlands got 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th place in indexing. however, North Korea achieved the last place of from Turkmenistan and finished with 180th place in the index.

The World Press Freedom Index 2020:

  • Every year, the Reporters Without Borders (RSF) publishes its World Press Freedom Index since 2002. the Reporters Without Borders (RSF) is an independent NGO which is located in Paris, France.
  • the indexing points out about the degree of freedom available to the media in the world. RSF explores pluralism degree, media independence, how is the environment for the media and self-censorship, the legal framework, transparency and infrastructure quality aspects. RSF does not work for evaluating government policy.
  • Mainly, RSF focus on two indicators they are a global indicator and the regional indicators. these indicators are dependent on the scores registered by each country.
  • The score of a country is given from the responses to a questionnaire in almost 20 languages that are accomplished by experts from the world
