World Hindi Day 2024: Theme, History, Significance – Every year, World Hindi Day is observed on January 10 across the world. the main purpose of the day is to promote the language on the global stage.
- It also marks the anniversary of the first World Hindi Conference which was inaugurated on 10th January 1975 by Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
- World Hindi Day was celebrated for the first time on 10 January 2006 and was commenced by former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh.
- The language got its name from the Persian term ‘Hind’ which means ‘the land of Indus’.
History of Vishwa Hindi Diwas
- On 10th January 1974, the first World Hindi Conference was held in Nagpur. the first World Hindi Conference was inaugurated by the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in 1975 hence making it an important day.
- In 2006, former Prime Minister of India Manmohan Singh celebrated the first World Hindi Day.

- In India, National Hindi Day is celebrated on September 14th every year.
