- P.N. Panicker was a teacher and was also the founder of the Sanatana Dharma Library.
- In 1945, he started the Travancore Library Association, which later evolved into the Kerala Granthsala Sangham (KGS). This association promoted education at the grassroots level.
- Panicker developed the KGS network to include approximately 6,000 libraries after Kerala’s formation in 1956.
- In 1977, He served as the general secretary of KGS, and Under his leadership, KGS won the UNESCO Krupsakaya Award in 1975.
- In order to enhance literacy rates and education awareness in rural areas, Panicker founded the Kerala Association for Non-Formal Education and Development (KANFED).
