US Coast Guard Day 2020: History

  • The United States Coast Guard was built upon 4th August 1790 by Treasury Secretary Alexander Hamilton and later on called as the Revenue Marine. Alexander Hamilton approved the development of ten vessels which is known as Revenue Service cutters. They were proposed to authorize the most punctual United States tax laws.

Coast Guard Day significance

  • In 1939, President Franklin Roosevelt and Congress affirmed the exchange of the activities of the United States Lighthouse Service to Coast Guard authority. Following not many years, the Department of Commerce Bureau of Marine Inspection and Navigation was likewise moved to the protection of Coast Guard and give them the authority of shipper marine activities.
