IIT-Kanpur launches technology innovation hub to find cyber security solutions

The Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (IIT-K) has launched a technology innovation hub named ‘C3i Hub’ in order to find cybersecurity solutions for anti-drones technologies, intrusion detection systems, block-chain, and cyber-physical systems.

  • C3iHub will help in making a vibrant ecosystem of cyber security start-ups fostering world-class innovations.
  • An application process was held and after that 13 start-ups and 25 research and development, principal investigators were selected that will set up start-ups cohort in cyber security.
  • Such start-ups will focus on the design and development of services and products to safeguard India’s critical infrastructure.

Bangladesh develops a social media platform dubbed as Jogajog

Bangladesh is going to develop a social media platform dubbed ‘Jogajog’. This platform will play a role as an alternative to Facebook.

  • The main purpose of this platform is to help the local entrepreneurs to create their own marketplace so that they can share information and data without depending on any foreign platform.
  • Also, the government of Bangladesh is working to develop a communication app called ‘Alapan’ as an alternative to Whatsapp.
  • Bangladesh will develop alternative social media platforms for Facebook, Whatsapp. also will develop a social media platform named ‘Jogajog’ as an alternative to Facebook.

Mirabai Chanu won Silver at the Tokyo Olympics

Former election commissioner Ashok Lavasa has unveiled a book titled “An Ordinary Life: Portrait of an Indian Generation.” The book highlights his father, Udai Singh, and his own experience on how his father’s principles served as a moral compass in his life, and can in ours too.

  • In 2020, Ashok Lavasa gave his resignation as election commissioner to be vice-president of the Asian Development Bank.

Mirabai Chanu won Silver at the Tokyo Olympics

On 24th July 2021, The ace weightlifter of India Saikhom Mirabai Chanu has won a silver medal in the Women’s 49kg category, at Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Chanu lifted a total of 202kg (87kg in snatch and 115kg in clean and jerk) to win the medal. This is the 1st medal for India at the ongoing Olympics Game in Tokyo.

  • Zhihui Hou (China) has won gold and lifted a total of 210kg. With this, she also created a new Olympic Record.
  • and, Indonesia’s Windy Cantika Aisah bagged bronze with a total of 194kg.

Veteran Marathi poet Satish Kalsekar dies at 78

The Noted Marathi poet and writer Satish Kalsekar have taken his last breath at the age of 78 due to a heart attack. Satish Kalsekar has given his outstanding contribution in the fields of poetry, translation, prose writing, and editing.

  • In 2014, he was awarded with Sahitya Akademi Award for his collection of essays ‘Vachanaryachi Rojanishee’.
