International Monsoons Project Office launched at IITM Pune
Dr Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Earth Sciences, has launched the International Monsoons Project Office (IMPO) at the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM), Pune.
- He launched International Monsoons Project Office on the occasion of National Science Day.
- The International Monsoons Project Office (IMPO) is to be hosted at the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM), Pune for five years initially.
- It reiterates the importance of monsoons for India’s economy.
- World Climate Research Programme and World Weather Research Programme are international programmes and are being coordinated by the United Nations World Meteorological Organisation (WMO).
President Ram Nath Kovind inaugurates ‘Arogya Vanam’ at Rashtrapati Bhavan
On 1st March 2022, Shri Ram Nath Kovind has inaugurated a newly developed ‘Arogya Vanam’ at the President’s Estate, (Rashtrapati Bhavan) in New Delhi.
- The concept of Arogya Vanam is to publicise the importance of Ayurvedic plants and their effects on human body.
- Arogya Vanam is spread in 6.6 acres and was developed in the shape of a human sitting in the Yoga Mudra.
- it also consists of around 215 herbs and plants used for therapeutic purposes in Ayurveda.
- It has other features including water fountains, Yoga platform, water channel, lotus pond and a view point.

Rahul Gandhi has launched the first volume of Tamil Nadu chief minister MK Stalin’s autobiography titled “Ungalil Oruvan (One Among You)”.
- The Ungalil Oruvan (One Among You) autobiography marks his early life experiences, school and college days, adolescence, early political contributions, marital life and the MISA struggle, recalling 23 years up to 1976.
- Stalin is the president of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party.

Niti Aayog is preparing a National Gender Index in order to measure the progress and identify the persisting gaps in gender equality to make informed policy decisions in the country.
- Niti Aayog will make National Gender Index a tool to map the progress of states and Union Territories (UTs) on defined gender metrics.
- National Gender Index will help in supporting action and advocacy around gender.
- It will also be added to the framework of Sustainable Development Goals.

Legendary West Indies spinner Sonny Ramadhin has died at the age of 92. he was a part of the side that won its first away series in England in 1950.
- He played his Test debut against England at Old Trafford in 1950, has played 43 Tests and taking 158 wickets at an average of 28.98.
- West Indies Team won the 1950 series in England 3-1.

- Petrilli Vincenza (Italy ) beat Pooja Jatyan by 7-3
- Shyam Sundar and Jyoti Balyan have also earned Silver in Compound Open Mixed Team.
