On the occasion of the International Youth Day 2021, The Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Shri Anurag Singh Thakur has distributed the National Youth Awards for the year 2017-18 and 2018-19.

  • The award includes a medal, a certificate and a cash prize of Rs 1,00,000/- to individual and a cash prize of Rs. 3,00,000/- to organization respectively.

Every year, World Photography Day is celebrated on August 19th to celebrate the art, craft, science, and history of photography across the world.

Purpose:

  • The main purpose of this day is to promote photography as a hobby and also inspire photographers around the globe to share a single photo with the rest of the world.

History

  • World Photo Day marks the invention of the Daguerreotype, a photographic process developed by Frenchmen Louis Daguerre and Joseph Nicephore Niepce in 1837.
  • In 2010, The first official World Photo Day was observed.
  • In the year 1939, the French govt brought the patent of the Daguerreotype process and announced the invention as a gift “free to the world”.

World Humanitarian Day 2021

World Humanitarian Day (WHD) is observed on 19 August every year across the world. the main objective of this day is to pay tribute to humanitarian personnel and those workers who lost or risked their lives while doing humanitarian service. In 2021 we are celebrating the 12th WHD.

  • In 2009, United Nations General Assembly declared World Humanitarian Day and choose the day of 19 August. it marks the 19 August 2003 bomb attack on the Canal Hotel in Baghdad, Iraq. 22 people including the UN Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Iraq, Sergio Vieira de Mello were killed in this attack.

Theme 2021:

  • The theme for 2021 World Humanitarian Day is  #TheHumanRace: a global challenge for climate action in solidarity with people who need it the most. it focuses on the immediate human cost of the climate crisis.
