Union Cabinet approves Rs 76,000 crore push for semiconductor manufacturing

Indian govt has approved a Rs 76,000-crore scheme to boost semiconductor and display manufacturing and the scheme will help in making India a global hub for hi-tech production, and attract large chip makers.

  • It will aim to be self-reliant in electronics manufacturing and will create massive investments and result in 35,000 specialised jobs apart from indirect employment for one lakh people.
  • The semiconductor scheme was launched due to a severe crunch of semiconductors.
  • the semiconductor is a key component used in cars to electronic devices.

Design Linked Incentive (DLI) scheme

  • The Design Linked Incentive (DLI) scheme will support to 100 domestic companies of semiconductor design for Integrated Circuits (ICs), Chipsets, System on Chips (SoCs), Systems & IP Cores and semiconductor linked design.

PM Modi world’s 8th most admired man in 2021

As per data analytics company YouGov, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has ranked 8th on the list of the world’s top 20 most admired men, in a survey. Narendra Modi is ahead of Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and Virat Kohli.

  • The survey was conducted taking feedback from 42,000 people in 38 countries.
  • Other Indians, Sachin Tendulkar, Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and Virat Kohli were the most admired in 2021.

Jharkhand launched SAHAY scheme for Maoist-hit areas

The state govt of Jharkhand has launched a scheme named “SAHAY “, aimed at nurturing young sporting talents in Maoist-hit districts

  • The Sports Action toward Harnessing Aspiration of Youth (SAHAY) scheme has been launched in Saraikela-Kharsawan, West Singhbhum, Khunti, Gumla and Simdega districts.
  • Under the scheme, 14-19 aged group boys and girls will be registered from villages to ward level and will be provided opportunities to display their skills in basketball, volleyball, hockey and athletics.
