PM Modi inaugurates the Saryu Nahar National Project in Balrampur

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated the Saryu Nahar National Project in Balrampur, Uttar Pradesh to realise the vision for farmer welfare and empowerment.

  • During the project inauguration programme, Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Union Minister for Jal Shakti Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya were also present.

Saryu Canal National Project

  • The Saryu Canal National Project will help in providing assured water for irrigation to over 14 lakh hectares of land.
  • About 29 lakh farmers will get benefits through this project, mainly in eastern Uttar Pradesh.
  • The govt has spent a cost of over ₹9,800 crores and more than ₹4,600 crores was provisioned in the last 4 years.
  • The Saryu canal project has played a role in interlinking of five rivers — Ghaghara, Saryu, Rapti, Banganga and Rohini and it will ensure optimum usage of water resources of the region.

Atmanirbhar Bharat Rojgar Yojana: Maharashtra tops

Maharashtra has ranked first in the list of states with a maximum number of beneficiaries under the Atmanirbhar Bharat Rozgar Yojana. followed by Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh has ranked at 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th place respectively.

  • Nagaland stood at the bottom with just 43 beneficiaries and Arunachal Pradesh had 59 beneficiaries

Delhi Police launches e-learning platform “Unnati” to skill school dropouts

Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana has launched an e-learning initiative named ‘Unnati’ at the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) Auditorium under the Delhi Police’s flagship scheme ‘YUVA’.

  • ‘Unnati’ e-learning platform aims to help educate youths and impart skill training to school dropouts from the weaker sections of society.

About the Unnati: 

  • Unnati is an e-learning and certification initiative that will inspire youngsters to enrol and choose the programme of their choice.
  • The ‘Unnati’ portal is very simple and Anyone can learn from anywhere using a laptop, desktop, tablet or simply a mobile phone.

Centre grants Mithila Makhana GI tag

The Central ministry of commerce has approved the plea to rename Bihar Makhana as Mithila Makhana. the centre also suggested further amendments in the brand logo to better reflect its origins apart from identifying and protecting the product’s Geographical Indications (GI) rights.

What is geographical indication (GI)

  • GI is a name or sign that is used on certain products which correspond to a specific geographical location or origin. The tag protects such products under the Geographical Indications of Goods (Registration and Protection) Act, 1999.

  • The bank has decided to offer an exclusive 3-months free wellness package along with a personal health coach, doctor teleconsultation and interactive video coaching.
  • It will offer a contactless payment of up to ₹5,000 in all NFC enabled PoS devices and can make a contactless payment above ₹5,000 using a PIN.

Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has launched a new plan named Dhan Rekha. Dhan Rekha plan is a non -linked, non-participating, individual savings life insurance plan.

  • It includes special premium rates for female lives and is allowed to third gender and all benefits under the plan are fully guaranteed.

  • It will accrue Guaranteed additions at the end of each policy year starting from the 6th policy year to the end of the policy term provided the policy is in force.
