Ten more Indian wetlands designated as Ramsar sites; the total Ramsar sites reached to 64
India has designated 10 more wetlands as Ramsar sites, are in Tamil Nadu and one each in Goa, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and Odisha states on India. after adding new 10 more Indian wetlands designated as Ramsar sites, the total Ramsar sites in India has become 64, covering an area of 12,50,361 hectares.

On August 3rd, 2022, FORTUNE released the Fortune Global 500 list for 2022 to rank the world’s largest corporations by revenue for fiscal 2021. as per the list, Walmart has received the top spot 9th consecutive year and overall 17th time since 1995.
- Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) has been ranked in the list for the first time.
- LIC has been ranked at 98th position with revenue of $97.26 billion and a profit of USD 553.8 million.

IDF World Dairy Summit 2022 will be held in New Delhi
The International Dairy Federation World Dairy Summit (IDF WDS 2022) will be held in New Delhi from September 12 to 15, 2022. IDF World Dairy Summit 2022 will help in improving its per animal milk productivity by drawing lessons from advanced nations.
- The theme of the four-day IDF World Dairy Summit 2022 will be ‘Dairy for nutrition and livelihood’.

UN Security Council Counter-Terrorism Committee meeting in October 2022
India is going to host a special meeting on behalf of the UN Security Council Counter-Terrorism Committee which will be conducted on October 29, 2022. The theme of the meeting – is “Mindful of the increasing threat posed by the misuse of new and emerging technologies.”
- The special meeting of the UN Security Council’s Counter-Terrorism Committee in October 2022 will witness diplomats of the 15-nation UN Security Council.
- The meeting will aim to focus on experiencing rapid development, and growing used by member states (including for security and counter-terrorism purposes).

India-US Armies will participate in mega military exercise “Yudh Abhyas” in Uttarakhand’s Auli in October 2022
The Armies of India and the US will participate in the 18th edition of the fortnight-long mega military exercise named “Yudh Abhyas” which will be held from October 14 to 31, 2022, at Auli in Uttarakhand.
- “Yudh Abhyas” exercise aims to enhance understanding, cooperation and interoperability between the two armies.
- The 17th or last edition of the exercise was held in Alaska, the US, in October 2021.
Indian and French Navies join Maritime Partnership Exercise in The Atlantic
The Navies of India and France joined a Maritime Partnership Exercise (MPX) in the North Atlantic Ocean which was held between July 29 and 30, 2022. Indian Navy’s guided-missile frigate INS Tarkash and the French Fleet Tanker FNS Somme became part of this exercise.
- The exercise aims to demonstrate the high degree of professionalism and interoperability between the two navies.

Fintech platform BharatPe appoints Nalin Negi as new CFO
Nalin Negi has been elected as the new chief financial officer (CFO) of Fintech startup BharatPe. prior to this, he served as CFO of credit card issuer SBI Card. Nalin Negi will work towards making the company EBITDA positive by March 2023.

Indian Judoka Tulika Maan won a silver medal in the women’s 78 kg category at the ongoing Commonwealth Game 2022 in Birmingham. with it, this is the third medal in Judo by India. Tulika was defeated by Scotland’s Sarah Adlington in the final.
- Indian athlete Tejaswin Shankar won a bronze medal in the men’s high jump event with a 2.22m high jump to finish third and received the first-ever CWG medal for India in the high jump.
- Weightlifter Lovepreet Singh won bronze in the men’s 109 kg category and lifted a total of 355 kg ( 192 kg in clean and jerk, 163kg in snatch).
- India’s super heavyweight lifter Gurdeep Singh received a bronze medal in Men’s 109+ kg category final and lifted a total of 390 kg (167kg. in the snatch, 223 in clean and jerk).
- Ace India squash player Saurav Ghosal bagged bronze in men’s singles and was defeated by England’s James Willstrop, 11-6, 11-1, 11-4.

Former Australian featherweight boxing world champion Johnny Famechon died at the age of 77. he was suffering from a prolonged illness. Famechon was associated with professional boxing for over 20 years long spa.
