The day is about to ask Lord Murugan, the son of Lord Shiva, for good health, prosperity, and forgiveness. The word ‘Thaipusam’ is a combination of two Tamil words, ‘Thai,’ one of the Tamil months, and ‘Pusam,’ which represents the Pusam Nakshatram (Star).
