The Samuel Huntington Public Service Award is offered to honor Samuel Huntington, President and Chief Executive Officer of the New England Electric System which later merged with National Grid. Post his graduation, Samuel Huntington spent 2 years teaching science in Nigeria. The award includes $30,000 for a one-year project for graduating college seniors to pursue public service anywhere in the world.
Past award recipients have won an unsolicited, prestigious McArthur “genius” grant; been named U. S. Surgeon General; and been recognized as a Forbes “30 Under 30” entrepreneur.

Award
The Samuel Huntington Public Service Award offers $30,000 for a one-year public service project: $15,000 is awarded at the start of the project, and $15,000 is awarded upon receipt of a six-month progress report.

To apply for the program, you will have to submit your application.
Submit the Application Form Along with the following documents:
- A brief abstract of the proposal (no more than 100 words)
- Proposal in 1,000 words or less, including
- a. Brief statement of need for the project (no more than a few sentences)
- b. Specific measurable target objectives;
- c. Schedule for project tasks;
- d. Sustainability of the project.
- Budget (your application will be viewed more favorably if a significant portion of the funds is devoted to your project; award monies not to be used for student loan repayment).
- Three letters of recommendation (each one-page only)

Selection Process
