Rajya Sabha passed Indian Institutes of Information Technology Laws Amendment Bill 2020

On 22nd September, Rajya Sabha cleared Indian Institutes of Information Technology Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2020. The Indian Institutes of Information Technology Act 2014 and the Indian Institutes of Information Technology (Public-Private Partnership) Act 2017 are the unique initiatives of the Indian Govt. The main purpose of it is to share knowledge in the field of Information Technology (IT) in order to offer solutions to the challenges faced by India. in Lok Sabha, The IIIT Laws (Amendment) Bill 2020 was cleared.

Key Points –

  • IIIT Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2020 will help in encouraging IIITs in order to support information and technology (IT) study.
  • The Bill will change the principals’ acts of 2014 and 2017.
  • The Bill will list 5 IIITs in Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode at Agartala, Bhopal, Bhagalpur, Raichur and Surat.
