PM Modi unveiled freedom fighter Alluri’s statue in Andhra’s Bhimavaram

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched the 125th birth anniversary celebrations of freedom fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju in Andhra Pradesh’s Bhimavaram, unveiling a 30-feet tall bronze statue of Alluri Sitarama Raju on the occasion. Governor of Andhra Pradesh Shri Biswabhusan Harichandan, Chief Minister Shri Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, and Union Minister Shri G. Kishan Reddy were also present.

Alluri Dhyana Mandir

  • The Govt has given its approval to build the Alluri Dhyana Mandir at Mogallu with a statue of Alluri Sitarama Raju in Dhyana Mudra.
  • it will show the life story of the freedom fighter through mural paintings and AI-enabled interactive systems.

Alluri Sitarama Raju

  • Alluri Sitarama Raju was born on July 4, 1897, and is remembered for his fight against the British to safeguard the interests of the tribal communities in the Eastern Ghats region.
  • He also led the Rampa rebellion, which was launched in 1922.
  • He is also referred to as “Manyam Veerudu” (Hero of the Jungles).
