  • On 27th July 2020, The Indian prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has commenced high throughput COVID-19 testing facilities. the main purpose of The facility is to ramp up testing capacity in the nation. such facilities would help to detect and treat and will provide assistance for controlling the spread of the disease.

Points to Remember

  • the high-throughput testing facilities will be installed at three places they are: ICMR-National Institute of Cancer Prevention and Research, Noida, ICMR-National Institute for Research in Reproductive Health, Mumbai, ICMR-National Institute of Cholera and Enteric Diseases, Kolkata.
  • Due to these facilities, more than 10,000 samples will be conducted in a day. labs will also help to decrease turn-around-time and exposure of lab personnel.
  • The labs will test COVID-19 disease and also will test Hepatitis B and C, HIV, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Cytomegalovirus, Chlamydia, Neisseria, Dengue, and so on
