Pahili Day 2023: Date, History, Significance – Every year, Pahili Raja is celebrated on June 14. Raja Parba (ରଜ ପର୍ବ), also known as Mithuna Sankranti, is a three-day-long festival of womanhood observed in Odisha, India. The day aims to celebrate menstruation and womanhood.

- It is said that the mother Goddess Earth or the divine wife of Lord Vishnu undergoes menstruation during the first three days.
- The 4th day is called Vasumati Snana, or the ceremonial bath of Bhudevi.
- The Raja term was introduced from the Sanskrit word ‘Rajas’ which means menstruation and when a woman menstruates, she is called ‘Rajaswala’ or a menstruating woman.
- A silver idol of Bhudevi is still found in the Puri Temple beside Lord Jagannath.
