Purpose Nursing Licensure Exam (NCLEX):
The main objective of the NCLEX is to evaluate the minimum competency of a nurse to practice safely and effectively. The NCLEX exam includes nursing knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Safe and effective care environment: It contains knowledge of infection control, medication administration, and patient safety.
- Health promotion and maintenance: It also consists of the knowledge of nutrition, exercise, and disease prevention.
- Psychosocial integrity: It also comprises knowledge of mental health, stress management, and coping mechanisms.
- Physiological integrity: knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology are included.
Eligibility:
You must meet the requirements to be eligible to take the NCLEX:
- Must be Graduated from an accredited nursing program.
- Must have passed a criminal background check.
- Must meet the state’s specific requirements for licensure.
Application Process:

Exam Format:
The NCLEX will be a computer-based exam that uses computerized adaptive testing (CAT). The exam is categorized into two sections:
- NCLEX-RN: Contains 265 multiple-choice questions.
- NCLEX-PN: Contains 205 multiple-choice questions.
Passing Score:
The passing score for the NCLEX will be released by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN). The passing score will be considered based on a job analysis that identifies the knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Results:
You will be provided your NCLEX Results within 48 hours of taking the exam. If you pass, you will be able to apply for licensure in your state.
