Nobel Laureate and former South African President FW de Klerk died at 85
The former president of South Africa and the last white person to head the country Mr FW (Frederik Willem) de Klerk has passed away at the age of 85. he was suffering from cancer.
- Mr De Klerk had served as head of state between September 1989 and May 1994.
- In 19993, De Klerk and Nelson Mandela jointly were honoured with the Nobel Peace Prize with for their work towards ending apartheid.
