Every year, National Whistleblower Reward Day is celebrated on February 20 to raise awareness against fraud and encourage people to report fraud against the government. Each year, the government faces billions of dollars in fraud which costs the government 10% of all expenditures or a staggering $350 billion annually.
History
National Whistleblower Reward Day was founded by Joel Hesch to boost awareness of available whistleblower rewards for reporting fraud against the government. Hesch served in the national whistleblower reward office of the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C., for 16 years. He initiated his firm to exclusively define whistleblowers’ files for rewards under federal and state whistleblower rewards.
