Every year, “National Milk Day” is celebrated on 26th November in India. this day commemorates the birth anniversary of the Father of India’s White Revolution, Dr. Verghese Kurien.

  • Dr. Verghese Kurien was a social entrepreneur who operated Operation Flood. Operation Flood is one the largest agricultural dairy development program in the world.
  • Dr. Verghese Kurien is also called the ‘Father of the White Revolution in India.
  • He played an important role in making India the largest milk producer in the world, from a milk-deficient country.
  • Dr. Kurien also served the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) between 1973 to 2006.
