SAI announced Rs.30,000 for 2,749 Khelo India athletes
During the COVID-19 National Lockdown, The Sports Authority of India (SAI) has Credited 30000 Rupees to each and every 2,749 Khelo India athletes as out of pocket allowance (OPA). due to this, total amount Rs.8.25 crore in all. Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Kiren Rijiju made announcement regarding this.
- Sports Authority of India stated that total of 2893 athletes will receive the OPA for the period. rest of 144 athletes will be sent amount by the end of May 2020.
- SAI selected Athletes from 35 states and union territories (UTs) of 21 sporting disciplines.
- athletes are from Maharashtra (386), Haryana (381), Delhi (225), Punjab (202) and Tamil Nadu (165).
- OPA is a kind of a Khelo India scholarship of Rs.6.28 lakh that athlete get OPA of Rs.1.20 lakh annually.
