International Day for the Fight against Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated Fishing 2023 – The International Day for the Fight Against Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) Fishing is organized on 5th June every year by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
- The main purpose of this day is to protect the fisheries sector and also highlight efforts taking place globally, regionally, and nationally to tackle illegal fishing.
History
- On 5th June 2017, the United Nations General Assembly recognized this day to observe.
- In 2018, The first International Day for the Fight Against Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) Fishing was celebrated.
