The Bowling Green State University (BGSU) started the Incoming Freshman Ohio Governor’s Youth Art Exhibition Scholarship, aimed at helping talented and creative high school graduating seniors in Ohio.
The scholarship covers the amount from $1,000 to $2,000 to deserving 8 or 10 students. The Incoming Freshman Talent Award is for the highest-ranking recipient of the exhibition. The Bowling Green State University’s (BGSU) School of Art also offers free tuition for the first year to all eligible students. The school rewards a further $2,000 disbursed in their freshman year to help with tuition fees.

Eligibility Criteria
Follow the requirements for applying for the MTU Presidential Scholars Program:
- You will have to submit a portfolio of 10 art pieces.
- Must make a plan to enroll in the School of Arts at BGSU.
- Artworks can be in any medium (2D, 3D, video, installation, animation, etc.).
- The portfolio can contain a variety of media or only one medium.
- Eligible Grade: High School Senior – High School Graduate
- Geographic Eligibility: Ohio
Note – you will be disqualified if you include other people’s work, reproductions of famous or copyrighted works, reproductions of cartoon/animated characters, or reproductions of celebrities.

Selection Process
Applicants will be considered based on their creativity, academics, and the strength of their application. First, the Artworks submitted to the exhibition will be examined by regional judges, who choose artworks that would move to the state round.
