  • On the day 2nd May 2020, the National Mission for Clean Ganga operating under Ministry of Jal Shakti commenced “IDEAthon”. it points on “The Future of River Management” to enucleate how the COVID-19 crisis can affect the river management strategies in the future.

Points – 

  • The IDEAthon checked up that how can take advantages of social angle of rivers to leverage to address the crisis. along with it, a discussion was made about the lessons that were taught by COVID-19 crisis.

Conclusion –

  • Finally, the event concluded that there is a need to take more attention towards river management. moreover, it pointed out the interconnectivity of cities with the river. overall, The river cities will need a special attention in creating awareness about an importance of ecological and economic potential of the rivers to help the cities.

  • The Namami Gange is known as the National Mission for Clean Ganga. The Namami Gange was begun in the year 2011. the main focus was to control the pollution of River Ganga. this mission comprise of pillars such as sewerage treatment, industrial effluent monitoring, bio-diversity, development of river surface cleaning, afforestation, and public awareness. In order to complete the mission, India has become partner with Germany.
