IIT to research to develop home-based testing kit

  • Indian Institute of Technology-Delhi has announced that they have started off conducting research to develop a home-based COVID-19 testing kit. the kits wull help to find if there are antibodies in the patients’s blood samples. as a result, institute has signed a MoU with Wells Fargo that is going to provide financially support to develop a home-based COVID-19 testing kit.
  • institute also said that there was for the development of a “peptide-based ELISA test in order to detect COVID-19 antibodies”. ELISA works for identifying a person possesses antibodies for COVID-19 in the blood.
  • IIT-Delhi’s Director V. Ramgopal Rao said that team will work on this project from implementation stage and that the concept’s proof will be expected by the end of 2020 year, and the kits may be available in market by March 2021.
